Will something like this fit a 2004 Chevy Colorado? I just want an aux port, but I can't find any info that I can easily understand about what to look for in a replacement radio. I don't care about any features other than the aux input.

I highly recommend Crutchfield. Their site will walk you through fitment and other questions.

And set you up with the right adapters to make it plug and play and keep your steering wheel controls working.

As others have suggested Crutchfield is the way to go for car stereos. Put in your car information and they will set you up with what head units fit, adapters so you don’t have to splice the wiring, steering wheel contol adapters if the Colorado even has those, and detailed instructions for your specific car.
Also, Boss units are garbage. Pay a bit more for a nicer unit from one of the major brands (Sony, Clarion, Panasonic, Pioneer, etc), you will thank yourself in the long run. I put a Pioneer single DIN unit in the Mini along with a Clarion amp (replacing a blown HK system that utilized an amp in the trunk it was easier to just buy an amp instead of rewiring the car and finding a head unit that worked with the 2 ohm speakers in the HK system) which was great except that the previous owners hack job wiring meant that I couldn’t get the steering wheel controls to work or get the head unit to dim automatically with the headlights.

Check out Crutchfield, I’ve installed two radios through them. They sell the wiring, the adaptors for the dash and the radios as well as a lot of other stuff. They have a find what fits my car feature.

I have a 2005 equinox and just looked up that you’ll have the same issue I did, as that era Chevy pushed the door chimes through the radio. You’ll have to order an adapter for this to make it work right.
Good news is they are cheaper now. I went to Crutchfield to see what your options were. This is the add ons after I selected a $90 stereo.
Or you can buy other stuff on your own.

But I’d strongly recommend getting a single din stereo where the bracket kit adds a pocket under the stereo.

what? Chimes don’t revert back to the cluster if the radio is changed? That’s what Ford vehicles do. esp. since most of the chimes are FMVSS requirements, it seems silly they wouldn’t have a fallback.

That looks like it’ll stop wor king within a month of installation. Car audio is one of those things you want to stick with established brand names for.
I installed a Sony WX900BT in my brother’s car a few months ago and so far it’s been very good. Looks significantly better than most aftermarket stereos and you can change the screen color to match your car.

Apparently this adapter box I linked from amazon is the chime box. So if you just wired a new radio you’d lose them.
What were they thinking?

I understand why they did it; the Dirana2 processor in the radio has chime generators and using them gives them a higher quality sound than that nasty little buzzer in the cluster . Ford does it too:
I just don’t understand why GM didn’t have a fallback. if you swap the radio out of a Ford/Lincoln, the cluster will detect that it’s missing and take over chimes. No silly box needed.
